PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Four members of the Rutgers tennis team will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships hosted by Dartmouth beginning Thursday, Oct. 22 in Hanover, N.H. The five-day event takes place at the Boss Tennis Center and concludes on Monday, Oct. 26.
Seniors Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas), junior Ksenija Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.M) all qualified for the event in singles and doubles. Li and Zein will compete on one doubles team while Lee and Tihomirova comprise the other doubles squad.
At last year's ITA Regionals, hosted by Yale, Li and Zein made it to the semifinals of the doubles draw. Li and Zein battled against Yale in the matchup, where the Bulldogs took the first set. The Scarlet Knights captured the second set, 6-3, before Yale secured the match win in the third set.
In its last time out, RU competed in the Bulldog Invitational from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11, which included matchups with Harvard, Dartmouth and a split squad consisting of athletes from Yale and Pittsburgh.
Rutgers begins its spring campaign in February, when the Scarlet Knights host Binghamton on Friday, Feb. 5.
