CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 17, 2015) - In its final nonconference matchup of the season, the Rutgers women's tennis team fell to College of Charleston, 6-1, on the road Tuesday afternoon.
"Today's match was a tough loss after a strong victory yesterday," said head coach Ben Bucca. "We played as hard as we could, but today Charleston was the better team. It has been a great spring break trip and we are well prepared to return home and, hopefully, play some matches outside."
Rutgers moves to an overall record of 6-6, while Charleston moves to a mark of 4-11.
The Cougars jumped to a quick advantage, capturing the team doubles point with two victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
In singles action, Charleston recorded wins in five of six matchups. The Cougars grabbed the first victory at the No. 6 spot, however, junior Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) recorded a win over Brooke McAmis as the match was retired in the thirdset.
