Tennis Hosts Ohio State, Penn State

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 19, 2015) - Kicking off a four-match home swing, the Rutgers women's tennis team hosts two Big Ten matchups against Ohio State and Penn State at the Rutgers Tennis Complex.
The Scarlet Knights welcome the Buckeyes on Friday, March 20 for its first true home match of the season, followed by a visit from the Nittany Lions on Sunday, March 22. Both matches are set for noon starts.
GAME NOTES
RU'S LAST TIME OUT.
Rutgers (6-6, 0-3 Big Ten) wrapped up nonconference play, splitting its spring break trip, 1-1, with a 4-3 win over Buffalo on Monday and a 6-1 loss to the College of Charleston on Tuesday.
In the win over Buffalo, RU swept the doubles matchups with three dominant victories. Freshman Lindsay Balsamo (Wall, N.J.) and juniors Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) sealed the victory for RU with victories at each of their singles spots.
Against the Cougars, Li recorded the lone point for the Scarlet Knights at the No. 1 singles spot. Freshman Farris Cunningham (Houston, Texas) put up a strong fight at the No. 6 spot, but ultimately fell by slim margin of 7-6 in the second set. Balsamo had a three-match win streak snapped in singles action.
SCOUTING OHIO STATE
No. 22 Ohio State (9-4, 3-0 Big Ten) is currently on a three-match win streak. The Buckeyes have topped Northwestern, Illinois and, most recently, Penn State in three consecutive contests to remain unbeaten in conference action.
Anna Sanford leads OSU with a 13-8 record in singles play. In doubles action, Sandy Niehaus and Gabriella De Santis pace the squad with an overall mark of 12-6.
Head coach Melissa Schaub is in her second season at the helm of the program.
SCOUTING PENN STATE
Penn State (4-9, 1-2 Big Ten) enters the weekend following a 5-2 loss to Ohio State on Saturday. The Nittany Lions lone conference victory came in an upset over then-No. 37 Illinois by a score of 4-3.
Victoria Kisialeva leads PSU with an overall mark of 11-8 in singles action. The duo of Devan McCluskey and Kim Surin hold a team-best record of 10-7 in doubles play.
The Nittany Lions are led by second-year head coach Chris Cagle.
PSU will make a stop at fellow Big Ten newcomer and No. 47 Maryland on Saturday, March 21 before making its trip to RU.
