EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (March 29, 2015) -- Closing out its 2015 home slate, the Rutgers women's tennis team dropped its matchup against Wisconsin, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
In doubles action, the duo of junior Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) and freshman Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.M.) dominated their opponents with an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, the pair of senior Lindsay Balsamo (Wall, N.J.) and junior Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) pushed their contest to extra serves, but were topped by the small margin of 8-7 (6). Wisconsin claimed the final doubles match to carry an advantage into singles play.
Lee picked up the lone victory for RU at the No. 3 singles spot. The rookie conquered Lauren Burich by the scores of 7-5, 7-5. It marked Lee's second victory in conference action this season.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Li split the first two sets of the matchup. In the tie-breaking round, Li was edged slightly by the mark of 10-6. Competing in her final home contest "On the Banks," Balsamo earned a quick 6-4 victory in the first set.
