Tennis Falls to Iowa, 6-1

IOWA CITY, IOWA (Mar. 7, 2015) - Concluding a three-match road swing, the Rutgers women's tennis team fell to Iowa, 6-1, on Saturday morning at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
The Scarlet Knights move to an overall record of 5-4 and 0-2 in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes snapped a four-match losing streak with today's win, improving to a mark of 5-4 and 1-1 in conference play.
In doubles action, the pair of senior Lindsey Balsamo (Wall, N.J.) and freshman Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.M.) fought a hard battle at the No. 2 spot, ultimately falling by the close margin of 8-7 (7-3). At the No. 3 spot, junior Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.) and freshman Lee Levy (Haifa, Israel) were edged by a score of 8-4.
With the advantage from the team doubles point, Iowa would go on to win five of the six singles matches. Lee came close at the No. 3 spot falling to Anastasia Reimchen by the score of 7-5, 6-2. Balsamo captured the lone victory for RU with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Annette Dohanics at the No. 4 singles spot.
Rutgers returns home for its Big Ten home opener against Michigan State on Saturday, March 13. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
