PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 3, 2015) -- Beginning a four-game road swing, Rutgers tennis travels to No. 21 Northwestern and Illinois for back-to-back weekend contests. The Scarlet Knights face the Wildcats on Saturday, April 4 and the Fighting Illini on Sunday, April 5.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (6-10, 0-7 Big Ten) looks to snap a seven-game skid with its first conference victory. Last weekend, he Scarlet Knights edged No. 69 Minnesota, however, fell short by the score of 5-2 to the Gophers in a Friday matchup. RU then fell to Wisconsin, 6-1, on Sunday's Senior Day.
Against the ranked Gophers, junior Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) won back-to-back sets to defeat Maja Vujic by marks of 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 5 singles spots. Classmate Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) also contributed a victory at the No. 1 position, topping Tereza Brichacova final set for a final match score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
In the match against Wisconsin, Chloe Lee (Albuquereque, N.M.) picked up the lone victory for RU at the No. 3 singles spot, grabbing her second victory in conference action. The rookie conquered Lauren Burich by the scores of 7-5, 7-5.
SCOUTING NO. 21 NORTHWESTERN
Northwestern (8-5, 3-2 Big Ten) has won four of its last five matchups, including three in conference play. Most recently, the Wildcats topped Michigan State, 5-2, on the road.
Freshman Alex Chatt boasts a dual singles record of 10-3 to pace the squad. In Big Ten play, Chatt holds a mark of 4-1 over her opponents. Classmate Erin Larner follows with a record of 8-5 in duals and 21-9 overall, followed by senior Lok Se Leung with an 8-4 singles mark.
The Wildcats are led by 16-year head coach Claire Pollard.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS
Illinois (8-9, 0-5 Big Ten) ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over Long Beach State on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Illini return home after six consecutive matches on the road.
Senior Melissa Kopinski and sophomore Louis Kwong lead the stat sheet with identical records of 9-6 in singles matchups. In doubles action, Kopinski and Kwong hold a team-leading overall mark of 9-3, along with a 2-1 record against league competition.
Head coach Michelle Dasso is in her ninth season at the helm.
Prior to the Scarlet Knights' arrival, Illinois will host fellow Big Ten newcomer Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
