Tennis Concludes Day One of Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Rutgers tennis concluded the first day of the Brown Invitational on Friday, as the Scarlet Knights produced four wins in singles action and a doubles victory against Stony Brook during the first day of play.
Three rookies collected wins during the first round, as Katherine Muzik, Kyra Yap and Jacqueline Cochrane all secured wins for RU in their collegiate debuts. Muzik recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win against Stony Brook's Carrion, Yap downed Anne-Katherine Hierl, 6-3, 6-4, and Cochrane added a 6-0, 6-2 decision over Amanda Foo.
Senior Farris Cunningham also contributed a 6-2, 6-2 victory to give Rutgers four singles wins for the day.
In doubles action, Muzik teamed with senior Ksenija Tihomirova for an 8-2 win against Carrion and Hierl from the Seawolves.
The Scarlet Knights return to action tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m.
