Three Scarlet Knights eliminated in the Round of 64
PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 20, 2017) – Rutgers tennis concluded play at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Friday at UPenn.
Senior Mingxiu Du, and sophomores Jaci Cochrane and Kat Muzik were all eliminated from the singles bracket with losses in the Round of 64 on Friday.
"This was a good tournament where we saw a lot of progress," said head coach Hilary Ritchie. "We also learned where we need to continue improving. I'm excited to work for two more weeks before our last fall trip to Buffalo."
On the third day of the regional singles tournament, Du was bounced from the draw following a 6-2, 6-0 setback to Katrine Steffensen of Princeton. Cochrane had a three-match win streak snapped with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Buffalo's Tanja Stojanovska, and Muzik dropped a 6-0, 6-0 contest to No. 2 seeded Miranda Ramirez from Syracuse.
The Scarlet Knights return to the courts on Nov. 3-5 at the Buffalo Invitational.
