FIVE DAYS, THREE GAMES
The Scarlet Knights are on game three of an eight-game homestand and playing in their third game in last five days and sixth game in the last 11 days.
Rutgers welcomes Virginia, the third ACC opponent on the nonconference slate, on Monday. The Scarlet Knights have already earned a 65-51 win over Wake Forest in the home opener and a 57-53 victory over NC State, a team receiving votes in the ESPN Coaches Poll, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
RU has won two-straight since returning home from the Gulf Coast Showcase over Thanksgiving break. The Scarlet Knights picked up its first ever Big Ten/ACC Challenge victory since joining the league in 2014 on Thursday against the Wolfpack and played to a 59-47 win over Siena on Saturday afternoon.
Against the Saints, redshirt senior guard Tyler Scaife led all scorers with 18 points in 18 minutes, moving into sixth on the all-time scoring leaders list. She was joined in double digits by redshirt sophomore guard Ciani Cryor with 10.
Additionally, redshirt junior forward Stasha Carey hauled in a game-high nine boards, while junior forward Caitlin Jenkins had six rejections.
ABOUT VIRGINIA
The Cavaliers enter the RAC at 4-5 overall on the 2017-18 season and are coming off a 68-50 win over UNCG on Saturday that snapped a two-game skid.
Prior to Saturday's matchup with UNCG, Virginia played in a tight Big Ten/ACC Challenge game with No. 15 Maryland falling, 60-59. UVA had the final possession of the contest trailing by one with 12.4 seconds remaining, but Maryland's defense held to secure the win.
The Cavaliers are led by Dominique Toussaint one of three averaging double figures. The sophomore guard is pouring in 13.3 points per game.
Sophomore guard Jocelyn Willoughby is adding in 11.4 points per game while senior guard Aliyah Huland El is contributing 10.3 point per contest.
Rutgers and Virginia meet for the third-straight year. In the 2015-16 season, the teams met twice with the Scarlet Knights defeating the Cavaliers, 60-48, en route to the Paradise Jam Title in St. Thomas, but fell in the second meeting in the second round of the WNIT, 71-55.
Last season, RU fell 63-54 at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.
STRINGER MILESTONE NUMBERS TO REMEMBER
Rutgers head coach Stringer has compiled a 984-392 career record in 47 seasons and is 16 wins away from joining Stanford's Tara VanDerveer and former Tennessee head coach Pat Summit with 1,000 career victories in women's basketball.
SCAIFE MILESTONE NUMBERS TO REMEMBER
The Little Rock, Arkansas native has climbed two positions on the Rutgers all-time scoring leaders list in the last two games. On Thursday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against NC State, Scaife's 27 points moved her into seventh all-time in scoring. Then with 18 points in Saturday's win over Siena, she moved into sixth place all-time surpassing Telicher Austin (1985-89).
With her 1,790 career points, it should not be very long for Scaife to move up the list again. The redshirt senior guard needs only three points to pass Vicky Picott (1987-91) into fifth place and 18 points to move into fourth all-tine past Regina Howard (1983-87).
