Jacobs, Muzik represent Rutgers in singles, doubles action during weekend play

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Katherine Muzik and freshman Maya Jacobs represented Rutgers tennis at the ITA Summer Circuit tournament, hosted by the Scarlet Knights this past weekend at the RU Tennis Center and Buccleuch Park in New Brunswick.
As the No. 9 seed in singles play, Jacobs delivered a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Shannon McCarthy in the first round. In the second round, Jacobs fell to Anya Ivenitsky, 6-4, 6-1.
Muzik also delivered a first-round victory with her 6-2, 7-5 decision against Jessica Pil. Muzik lost in the second round to Sydney Kaplan, 6-3, 7-5. Last season, Muzik finished her rookie campaign with a 9-11 record in singles play during the 2017 spring season.
Jacobs and Muzik also competed in doubles play. After advancing with a first-round bye, Jacobs and Muzik lost to Isis Gill-Reid and Amanda Nava, 8-3.
