No. 25 Rutgers continues the New Year hosting Penn State in the first of two meetings with the Lady Lions on Saturday in front of the BTN cameras.
The Scarlet Knights are rolling with 10-straight wins and a 10-0 record at the RAC this season. RU improved to 3-0 in Big Ten play for the first time since joining the league in the 2014-15 season with a 76-37 victory over Illinois.
Graduate Student Nigia Greene poured in a game- and career-high 18 points going 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Tyler Scaife, meanwhile, dropped in 13 points in only the second game this season she has not led the Scarlet Knights in scoring.
On the boards, Caitlin Jenkins hauled in 10 rebounds marking her sixth double-digit rebounding game. Junior center Victoria Harris meanwhile set career marks with four assists and four steals.
ABOUT PENN ST.
The Lady Lions come to the RAC sporting a 10-6 overall mark and 1-2 record in Big Ten play.
Penn State earned its first conference win of the year on Wednesday night as sophomore guard Siyeh Frazier hit a shot, junior guard Teniya Page went 1-of-2 from the line, followed by Frazier stealing the ensuing Hoosier inbounds pass in the game's final 15 seconds to go in a 77-74 victory over Indiana.
The win snapped a three-game skid for the Lady Lions, who like the Scarlet Knights, also earned victories over Siena (86-72) and Wake Forest (68-58) in nonconference competition. Prior to Wednesday's win over the Hoosiers, Penn State was leading No. 15/14 Maryland by two on New Year's Eve before the Terps scored the contest's final six points in rallying for the 69-65 win over the Lady Lions.
Page leads all Penn State scorers at 16.0 points per game and shooting 80.4 percent (45-of-56) from the free throw line. Junior guard Amari Carter checks in as the Lady Lions second leading scorer at 15.2 points per game, while sophomore guard Jaida Travascio-Green is pouring in 12.1 points per game.
