Women’s Soccer Tabbed No. 21 in the Nation

Scarlet Knights finish regular season with record of 11-2-5
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer is tabbed No. 21 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, released Tuesday.
The Scarlet Knights concluded the regular season with a record of 11-2-5 and 7-1-3 in Big Ten play. RU finished as the runner-ups for the conference regular season title, as the second-place result marks the highest for the program since joining the league in 2014.
With the 1-0 double-overtime victory at Michigan State on Thursday, the Scarlet Knights extended its record to six overtime victories, the most for the program in a single year. It also marked the 11th overtime overall for the team, matching the NCAA record for most in a single season.
Defensively, Rutgers shutout eight opponents in the regular season, including five in conference play. Freshman goalkeeper Meagan McClelland led the Big Ten with a 0.48 GAA in league matches only.
Sophomore forward Amirah Ali leads the Big Ten with 10 total goals this season, including five goals in conference action to rank third in the league. Ali's five game winners ranks 10th in the NCAA, including four golden goals in Big Ten matches. Junior midfielder Nicole Whitley is tied for the conference lead with seven assists.
Additionally, Rutgers sits at 28th in the NCAA RPI rankings.
Rutgers awaits its opponent for the Big Ten Tournament, beginning on Sunday, Oct. 28 with the quarterfinals. With the win on Sunday, the Scarlet Knights secured home field advantage for the opening round. The tournament bracket will be announced Wednesday night following the final Big Ten matchup of the season.
