Set school record with 79-yard punt versus Northwestern
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football sophomore Adam Korsak has been added to the Ray Guy Award watch list, the Augusta Sports Council announced today. The award is presented annually to the top college punter.
Korsak has averaged 43.0 yards on 52 attempts in his rookie season, helping the team to No. 22 nationally with a net average of 40.6 yards. The mark would be the highest in a season in Rutgers history. The Australia native set the school record, which had stood since 2006, with a 79-yard punt against Northwestern, also tied for the second-longest punt in the nation so far this season. He now has seven boots of at least 50 yards overall.
In addition, Korsak has pinned 13 inside the 20-yard line and only has one touchback. Fourteen of his punts have been fair caught, with 34-of-52 not returned.
The Ray Guy Award watch list will be narrowed down to semifinalists on Nov. 15. Click here for more information.
Rutgers returns to action Saturday at Wisconsin. The game will start at noon ET on Big Ten Network.
