Tennis Set For Opening Round of ITA Northeast Regional Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Rutgers tennis is set for the opening rounds of the 2019 ITA Northeast Division I Regional Championship hosted by Army at the United Military Academy. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday morning on the outdoor courts of Malek Courts and indoors at the Litchenberg Tennis Center.
SINGLES
In the qualifying round Thursday morning, Jaci Cochrane fell early to Buffalo's Gabriella Akoypan after three sets.
Heading into the opening round, Kat Muzik will face Fairfield's Amanda Nowak, while Tess Fisher meets Oceane Garibal of St. John's on the indoor courts.
On the outdoor courts, Sydney Kaplan takes on St. John's Milka Genkova as Mya Jacobs plays Yale's Rhea Shrivastava. Sydney Jones will receive a bye in the opening round, and will look to face either Samara Eisenberg of Binghamton or Julia Migliorini of Providence.
DOUBLES
The lone Scarlet Knight duo to play indoors of Jones and Fisher will meet Nicole Conrad and Ashley Hess from Dartmouth.
Cochrane and Muzik will take on Fordham's Avery Aude and Valeriya Deminova. Joining them on the outdoor courts will be Jacobs and Kristiana Zahare against Caroline Vincent and Stephanie Dolehide from host, Army.
