Women’s Golf Places 10th at 17-Team Lake Oconee Invite

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Women's golf placed 10th with a 925 (310-305-310) total at the 17-team Lake Oconee Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday at Reynolds Lake Oconee Great Waters. The Scarlet Knights carded 167 pars and 16 birdies in cold and wet conditions to open their spring season in a tournament that included multiple teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 50.
The event was contested on the three, nine-hole courses (Ridge, Bluff, and Cove) that comprise Reynolds Lake Oconee Great Waters.
Harriet Allsebrook, playing in first position, tied for 28th in the 105-player field with a 229 (80-72-77). The sophomore's second round 72 was RU's best of the tournament. She carded 32 pars and five birdies.
Junior Carrie-Ann Lee and graduate co-captain Ashleigh Greenham joined Allsebrook among the top 40 competitors. Lee tied for 32nd with a 230 (78-75-77) and Greenham tied for 37th with a 231 (76-79-76). Lee tallied a team-best 37 pars, while Greenham was minus one on par five holes.
Freshman Maeve Rossi and sophomore Lori Char completed the team scorecard. Rossi finished tied for 54th with a 235 (76-79-80) and Char tied for 86th with a 244 (83-81-80). Rossi was minus one on par fives.
No. 5-ranked Vanderbilt won the Invitational by seven strokes with an 881 (292-299-290). Texas Tech's Sofia Garcia was the individual champions with a three-under 213 (70-70-73).
The Scarlet Knights finished seven strokes out of seventh place and placed ahead of South Alabama, South Dakota State, Albany, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, Bradley and Yale.
Rutgers returns to the links at the River Landing Classic, March 4-5, in Wallace, N.C.
