Women’s Golf Set to Compete at River Landing Classic

PISCATAWAY – Women's golf travels to Wallace, N.C., for the 15-team River Landing Classic, hosted by North Carolina-Wilmington, on Monday and Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights join six programs ranked among the Golfstat top 75 in the 15-team field on the 72, 6,026-yard River Course.
Sophomores Harriet Allsebrook and Lori Char, juniors Carrie-Ann Lee and Ana Cortes, freshman Maeve Rossi and graduate co-captain Ashleigh Greenham will comprise the travel squad in RU's second tournament of its spring season.
Rutgers is coming off a 10th place finish with a 925 (310-305-310) total at the 17-team Lake Oconee Invitational, played Feb. 16-17, at Reynolds Lake Oconee Great Waters. The Scarlet Knights carded 167 pars and 16 birdies in cold and wet conditions. Playing in first position, Allsebrook tied for 28th in the 105-player field with a 229 (80-72-77).
In addition to the tournament hosts, Rutgers will be joined in the River Landing field by Boston College, No. 31 Campbell, Charlotte, East Tennessee State, Georgetown, Georgia State, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, No. 39 Penn State, Seton Hall, UNC-Greensboro and Winthrop.
It marks the Scarlet Knights fourth entry at the River Landing Classic. Last season, Emily Mills carded a four-under par 212 (76-69-67) to win the 83-player event. The senior captain native helped the Scarlet Knights tie for sixth place in the 14-team field with an 887 (304-296-287) total. In 2016, Rutgers tied for eighth with a 937 (312-314-311) at the 13-team event, as Christina Paulsen carded a 227 (73-77-77) to tie for 12th. In 2015, RU also placed eighth with a 926 (315-299-312) total. Mills, then a freshman, and Racquel Zurick tied for 27th with 229 totals.
The River Course was designed to embrace the stunning beauty of the natural environment. The course runs along the Northeast Cape Fear River. The championship course incorporates Champion Bermuda on the greens and Tifway 419 Bermuda for the tees and fairways.
After a practice round on Sunday, 36 holes will be played on Monday, with an additional 18 to be contested on Tuesday. Each day's competition will begin via a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.
