Tennis Adds Kate Fahey as Volunteer Assistant Coach

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis head coach Hilary Ritchie has announced the addition of Kate Fahey as a Volunteer Assistant Coach. A three-time Big Ten Champion at the University of Michigan, Fahey brings a plethora of tennis knowledge and accolades "To the Banks".
"We are very excited to have Kate join our staff," said Ritchie. "She had a fantastic collegiate career and has a wealth of tennis knowledge. Her experiences will be an asset to our current student-athletes."
A 2019 Michigan graduate, Fahey recorded a decorated tennis career as a three-time ITA All-American, two-time Big Ten Athlete of the Year and four-time All-Big Ten selection. She helped guided the program to three straight Big Ten team titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019. As a three-time NCAA Singles Championship participant, Fahey reached the quarterfinals in 2017. This year, Fahey and teammate Brienne Minor finished as runner-ups at the NCAA Championships in doubles.
Additionally, the Fair Haven, New Jersey, native is Michigan's leader in career singles wins (132) and career winning percentage (.820). Fahey holds U-M records for highest season-ending singles ranking (3) and tied in doubles (7). She swept the ITA Midwest Regional Singles and Doubles Championships twice (2016, 2018).
In the classroom, Fahey was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large First Team. The International Studies major and business minor is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, two-time ITA Scholar Athlete Award recipient, and a 2018 Academic All-America honoree. She was also a SAAC representative for the Wolverines.
During her summer breaks, Fahey dedicated her time to instructing young tennis players. Fahey worked as a tennis instructor for the Rumson Country Club, working on court with 20+ youth resulting in a vast improvement of tennis skills and confidence. Additionally, she has expanded her business experiences with intern stints at Franworth and Kinesys Solutions.
