
Track and Field Embarks on Big Ten Outdoor Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field embarks on the 2021 Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 14-16 hosted at Illinois. The three-day meet be live streamed on B1GNetwork+ and will be accompanied by live results.

Rutgers looks to continue its successes this outdoor season, which included four new school records for the program. On the women's side, Lou Mialhe reset her 3000-meter steeplechase record two times on the year. Already having been record holders in indoor, Ka'Leila Abrille (pole vault), Courteney Campbell (high jump), and Jasmine Van Note (shot put) etched their names into the Rutgers outdoor record books.
On the men's side, the 4x100m relay team of A'nan Bridgett, Taj Burgess, Nadale Buntin and Louis Akpadago established a new program standard in the event.
The Scarlet Knights entered the outdoor campaign with momentum from indoors. At the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Championships, Rutgers earned medals in the men's high jump (gold), women's high jump (silver), men's 400-meter (bronze) and women's pole vault (bronze). The Scarlet Knights posted six other podium finishes as well.
Perry Christie, the 2021 Big Ten indoor high jump champion, and Taj Burgess, the 2021 bronze medalist in the indoor 400m, advanced to NCAAs for the Scarlet Knights. The duo capped the indoor season by each claiming All-American Second Team accolades.
