PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football RB Isiah Pacheco was selected in the seventh round, pick No. 251, of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Pacheco becomes the 87th Scarlet Knight to join the NFL after playing for head coach Greg Schiano.
Playing in both the Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl, Pacheco earned an invitation to the NFL Combine and ran a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash, the top speed among all running backs at the event. He later showcased his skills in front of over 30 NFL personnel at Rutgers Pro Day in March.
Claiming a spot on the Academic All-Big Ten list this past year, Pacheco finishes his RU career with 2,442 career rushing yards to rank seventh in program history, with his 563 carries sixth. In addition, he is ranked 11th in the school record book with 3,039 career all-purpose yards.
The last Scarlet Knight drafted by the Chiefs was "JJ" Jennings in 1974 (ninth round). WR Bo Melton was previously selected in the seventh round (pick No. 229) by the Seahawks, making it multiple Rutgers draft picks in 2022.
