
Women's Basketball Downed by Princeton

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's basketball team (4-2) fell to Princeton (4-2), 66-49 at Jersey Mike's Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Kiyomi McMiller scored a career-high 27 points in the contest, shooting 6-10 (60 percent) from the field in the second half.

Destiny Adams and Chyna Cornwell both grabbed double-digit rebounds, bringing in 10 off the glass each. Lisa Thompson also added three assists and Cornwell recorded two steals.

- Princeton caught fire for much of the first quarter taking a 16-7 lead into the media timeout at 4:30.
- After the break, another McMiller three and a fast break three-point play from Mya Petticord cut the Tiger lead down to four, 17-13.
- Princeton stayed hot and took a 23-15 lead into the second 10-minutes.
- Princeton sank two baskets to start the second quarter, but JoJo Lacey answered to stop the Tigers with just under eight minutes to go.
- Besides a Princeton jumper, the game went mostly scoreless through the middle of the period and Princeton held a 29-17 lead going into the media timeout at 3:25.
- A three-pointer from Petticord right out of the stop brought the difference back down to single digits.

- Both teams traded baskets over the final two minutes and McMiller hit a buzzer beater jumper sending RU to the locker room down by eight points, 33-25.
- After a Princeton basket to start the third quarter, McMiller and Lacey both netted baskets to make it a six-point game.
- The two teams went onto trade scores over the next three minutes to keep the six-point gap heading into a media timeout at 4:33.
- The Tigers wouldn't go quietly, but a Destiny Adams layup made the score 45-36, before RU called a timeout with two minutes remaining.

- McMiller made her third basket beyond the arc, but two more Princeton buckets ended the third quarter with Princeton up, 49-39.
- After the stoppage, the Tigers pulled away scoring the first six points of the quarter, but Chyna Cornwell got the Scarlet Knights on the board with two free throws.
- McMiller traded a basket with Princeton before the media timeout at 4:21. Princeton remained ahead, 57-43.
- Lisa Thompson and McMiller would battle for the final three minutes but Princeton wouldn't relent, as the opposition came out with the 66-49 victory.
Knights Notes
- McMiller set her career-high with 27 points. She has now reached 20+ points in three of her last four outings.
- McMiller also set career bests in field goals made (12), field goals attempted (25) and was one shy of her most three-pointers made with three.
- Adams and Cornwell both recorded their fourth double-digit games of the season off the glass, each grabbing 10 boards on the day.
- Rutgers bench outscored the Tiger bench 12-6.
- The Scarlet Knights scored 13 fast-break points compared to Princeton's three.

Rutgers will host the Battle on the Banks Tournament from Friday, Nov. 29-30. The Scarlet Knights will first face Marquette on BTN at 2 p.m. RU will then face Georgia Southern on the second day of the event, also at 2 p.m.
