Sephora Ford Wins Platform Dive, RU has 4 New Top-10 Times
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Rutgers swimming and diving concluded competition at the Minnesota Invitational with the final day of competition on Saturday.
Rutgers had a first place finish in diving on Saturday, and four new times on the Rutgers' all-time top-10 list. Over three days of competition, Rutgers had seven new placement's on the program's top-10 list.
Sephora Ford won the platform diving competition, posting a score of 317.70. Ford's score was the second highest ever score in school history for platform diving. She moved past teammate Bailee Strugill's mark of 313.45 earlier this year, and only trailed the top mark of 333.25 set by Abigail Knapton in 2022.
Ford's 317.70 score was well ahead of the second place finisher at the Minnesota Invite. Second was taken by a diver who came in at 251.0.
Anna Vlachou finished fourth in the 100 yard freestyle. She touched the wall in 49.20, the third fastest time in school history, and fastest mark in the event for the program since 2020. It was her second RU top-10 time of the event, also doing so in the 50 Free on Thursday.
Angelica Bath had a top-10 time in the 200 backstroke with a top-eight finish. Her preliminary time of 1:58.62 was the 10th fastest time in program history.
Blanka Berecz was in an 'A' Final in the 200 yard butterfly, placing sixth with a time of 1:59.39 in the finals. Cameron Kuriger also bettered her Rutgers Top 10 time in the event with a 1:59:58 in the B final, which was the eighth fastest time in RU history and seventh fastest finals time.
As a team, Rutgers finished fifth with 811.50 points. No. 4 Cal has the best score with 1,874 points, followed by Minnesota (1,616.5), Harvard (1,352) and Denver (867.5). RU's score bested UNLV (584.5), who came in sixth place.
Rutgers has one last competition in 2025 as it prepares to send divers to Midland, Texas for the USA Diving Championship on Dec. 10-16. The next full team meet is January 23 vs. La Salle.
