WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 69 Rutgers women's tennis team (6-2, 0-0 B1G) swept the Army Black Knights (13-4, 0-0 IVY), 4-0 Friday afternoon.
The Scarlet Knights snapped the Black Knights three match win streak with a hard fought doubles point and three straight wins in singles play.
Doubles
Doubles pair No. 1 Mai Nguyen and Naomi Karki gave RU the advantage with a 6-2 win, needing just one more win to clinch the doubles point.
After taking a loss on court No. 3, all eyes were on Zuzanna Frankowska and Zeynep Ilker. With the match in the tiebreaker, Frankowska and Ilker get the clutch win, 7-6 (1).
Singles
Nguyen made quick work of her opponent winning 6-1, 6-1 to grab the first point.
Frankowska then brought the Scarlet Knights within one point of the match, winning 6-3, 6-3.
Minchae Kim then clinched the win for RU on court No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
