Women’s Golf Earns Bid to National Golf Invitational
May 01 | Women's Golf
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's golf has earned a postseason bid to the 2026 National Golf Invitational, held May 15-17 at Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. It marks the third consecutive year the Scarlet Knights will participate in the NGI, which the program won in 2024.
"We're excited to be back at the NGI and playing in May," said head coach Kari Williams. "The opportunity to tee it up and compete again is important for our team to build on our strongest year in program history. We've had success at this event in the past and it'll be great to see what our team can do."
The current field includes Bowling Green, Bradley, Coastal Carolina, Lipscomb, Mercer, Missouri State, Rutgers, Stetson and Wyoming.
The Scarlet Knights have competed in the National Golf Invitational in back-to-back seasons, which included an NGI team title in 2024. That year, the Scarlet Knights rallied in the final round to win the event by three strokes over UNC Wilmington for the program's first ever postseason tournament title. RU finished seventh at last year's installment of the tournament.
Rutgers enjoyed one of its most successful seasons under Williams, earning a national ranking of 80, the best in program history. The Scarlet Knights produced a 297.25 scoring average across their 32 rounds, good for second all-time.
RU closed the spring season with three top two team finishes in its last five outings. The stretch included a team win at the Rutgers Invitational, as well as back-to-back runner-up results at the City of Oaks Collegiate in Raleigh, North Carolina and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens.
