
Softball's Rohwer, Burtis & Schuettler Named NFCA All-Region

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Three Rutgers softball Scarlet Knights landed on NFCA Northeast All-Region Teams, it was announced on Thursday. Junior second baseman Sam Rohwer was a second-team selection, while sophomore first baseman Baileigh Burtis and freshman catcher Charleigh Schuettler earned third-team honors.
The trio helped Rutgers set school records in home runs (74), RBIs (320) and the highest team batting average (.306) since 2015. They also helped the Scarlet Knights to the most hits in a game (20 – at Wisconsin) and home runs (6 – at Lehigh) in a game and grand slams (8) in records dating back to 2003 along with most runs scored (20 – at Lehigh) in a game since 2015.
Rohwer, a First Team All-Big Ten pick, batted .356 for the Scarlet Knights, including .413 in conference action. The Mukilteo, Washington native connected for a team-leading 17 home runs and tying for the team lead with 11 doubles. Among her 58 hits were six lead-off home runs, 16 multiple-hit games, and 10 multiple-RBI contests. She collected 41 runs and was second on the team with 46 RBIs. On the field at second, Rohwer made 90 putouts, 88 assists and nine double plays.
At the end of the season, Rohwer ranked 12th in home runs (17), 18th in total bases (120) and 22nd in slugging percentage (0.736) nationally.
In the Rutgers record book, Rohwer placed her name fourth in season home runs (17).
Prior to transferring "On The Banks", Rohwer was the 2024 America East Rookie of the Year and a two-time First Team All-America East honoree at Bryant.
Burtis swung .344 on the season and .351 in Big Ten action in her second season "On The Banks". Altogether, the Friendswood, Texas native accumulated 53 hits, 35 runs and a team-high tying 11 doubles. She totaled six home runs, including Rutgers' eighth grand slam of the year and going yard twice against #7 UCLA, along with 41 RBIs. Burtis was also 4-for-4 in stolen bases. At first, she helped make 16 of RU's 22 double plays and totaled 289 putouts and seven assists.
Schuettler started behind the plate in 41 of her 51 appearances in her rookie season with the Scarlet Knights. Offensively, the Phoenix, Arizona native batted .348 with 24 hits, 23 runs, four doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs. On defense, Schuettler registered four double plays, 22 assists and caught eight stealing.
