Scarlet Knights Go 3-0 At Scarlet Knight Classic In Final Home Weekend
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers softball closed out the home portion of its 2026 schedule with a pair of wins on Sunday in the Scarlet Knight Classic taking a 9-1 win over Georgetown in six innings and downing Hofstra, 3-2.
In the victory over the Hoyas, Addie Osborne and Samantha Delhoyo collected home runs while the bases were loaded with one out in the sixth for Makenna Coleman to walk it off with a sac fly.
The game two win against the Pride saw back-to-back home runs from Sam Rohwer and an Osborne sac fly lifting the Scarlet Knights to victory. Brooke Shifflett tossed five strikeouts, while Marley Caldwell added two Ks in her first collegiate save.

| STATISTICALLY SPEAKING |
- The Scarlet Knights put away 13 hits with senior Siera Hoekstra and junior Riley Hwang batting 3-for-4 and sophomore Addie Osborne hitting 2-for-3 with a trio of RBIs and two runs scored.
- Osborne posted her team-leading 11th double and her 13th home run of the season.
- Sophomore Samantha Delhoyo added a two-run home run, her second of the year.
- Sophomore Kassandra Gewecke improved to 8-10 in the circle, going 5.0 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts. Classmate Dezaria Johnson also pitched an inning of relief.
| THE RUNDOWN |
- An error put RU on the board in their first plate appearance. Sam Rohwer led off with a single down the left field line, advanced to second on a single also down the left field line from Riley Hwang and tagged up to take third on the flyout from Addie Osborne. Hwang stole second and with the throw from the plate heading into the outfield, Rohwer went home for the 1-0 Scarlet Knight lead.
- The second inning saw Rutgers add two after loading the bases. All were aboard for a Riley Hwang single thru the left side and walk by Osborne to push across runs for a 3-0 RU edge.
- Osborne's 13th home run of the season was a two-run shot that pushed Rutgers out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth.
- After leading off with a single down the right field line, Siera Hoekstra crossed home plate on a Rachel Millan ground out in the fifth, extending the RU lead to 6-0.
- Georgetown thwarted the shutout in the sixth. The Hoyas loaded the bases giving Dani Koo the RBI on a fielder's choice that scored Gabby Park.
- Rutgers, however, ended the game in the bottom half with three runs on three hits. Samantha Delhoyo went over the wall for a two-run shot. The Scarlet Knights followed by loading the bases leading to Makenna Coleman's walk-off sac fly, scoring pinch runner Hailey Stripling.

- Junior Sam Rohwer went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, including her fifth lead-off home run of the season. Her two dingers brought her season total to a team-leading 15.
- Sophomore Addie Osborne pushed across redshirt sophomore Hailey Stripling on a sac fly.
- Junior Brooke Shifflett got the start and tossed 5.0 innings with five strikeouts and one earned run on four hits en route to improving to 8-8 on the year.
- Freshman Marley Caldwell got the save, holding down two scoreless innings of relief with no hits allowed and two strikeouts.

- It took four pitches for Sam Rohwer to give the Scarlet Knights the lead in the bottom of the first in her first home run of the day.
- Hofstra evened the score at 1-1 in the top half of the third. Dahlia Palacio singled down the left field line and advanced to second on an error in trying to stop the Pride member from advancing. After stealing third, Palacio scored on a double to left from Gabby Sultan.
- Eleven total pitches and seven pitches later to Rohwer and it was 2-1. It was back-to-back homers for the Scarlet Knight second baseman, who returned the lead back to the Scarlet Knights in the bottom of the third.
- After Brooke Shifflett retired the top half of fifth on strikes, Rutgers loaded the bases and went ahead 3-1 on an Addie Osborne sac fly to center.
- Kimmya Sims scored on a wild pitch in the sixth, pulling Hofstra within a run, down 3-2, but the Scarlet Knights prevailed as the Pride went down 1-2-3 in the seventh.

Rutgers softball heads to Wisconsin for the final weekend of Big Ten regular season play next weekend. The three-game series with the Badgers takes place May 1-3.
