RINGOES, N.J. – Grace Lu from Rutgers women's golf qualified for the 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship following her 18-hole qualifier on Wednesday at Copper Hill Country Club.
Lu finished with a three-under-par 69 to tie for first and lock up one of four qualifying spots for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, set for Aug. 4-9 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Lu is the first Scarlet Knight to earn a spot at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship since Leigha Devine in 2022.
"I'm pretty excited just because this is my first time qualifying," Lu told NJGolf. "I'm going to be a grad student in college, so it's been a while, but I've had a lot of close calls. To finally be able to qualify this time, it feels very rewarding."
Lu was one of four participants to finish with a three-under-par 69, highlighted by three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 third hole. Lu tied with Sarah Shao (Columbia), Alexa Takai and Ryleigh Knaub (LSU) in the 72-player field. Knaub entered the day as the No. 264th-ranked amateur in the country (WAGR).
The Edison native led Rutgers with a 73.50 scoring average across 12 tournaments and 35 rounds during the 2025-26 season. Lu produced nine par or better rounds, including a career-low 67 at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona.
