Volleyball Opens Weekend With Sweep Of Stony Brook

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers volleyball's weekend got off to a good start in sweeping fashion.
The Scarlet Knights downed Stony Brook 25-18, 25-21, 25-15 to improve to 5-2 overall and collect its second straight-set victory of the year.

| STANDOUT STATS |
- Six Scarlet Knights recorded five kills or more, led by Imani Howell with nine, Skylar George with nine, and Aspen Maxwell and Karis Willow with eight apiece.
- Natalie Robinson added five kills on nine attacks to hit .556 on the night.
- The two-setter system continued with Brooke Baldwin collecting 21 assists and Lily Bolden adding 18 helpers.
- RU held a slight 5-3 edge in aces, all coming from five different Knights.
- On defense, Howell and Maxwell led the way with three blocks each and Kenize Dyrstad posted 14 digs.

- SET 1 (25-18) | Rutgers opened on a 10-4 tear to open the match. Stony Brook took the first point but from there it was all RU. Stony Brook managed to pull within two twice, once after a 5-1 run saw Rutgers lead 12-10 and again with the Scarlet Knights up 18-16. From there, however, RU closed out the frame outscoring the Seawolves 7-2 for the win. It was a team effort on the attack with seven different Knights with a kill, including Aspen Maxwell, Karis Willow, Imani Howell and Malia Romes with a trio. With three kills on four swings, Romes ended the set hitting .750.

- SET 2 (25-21) | After an early three ties and two lead changes, the Scarlet Knights took control of the set behind an 8-1 run going into the midway break up 16-9. The Seawolves were hampered by nine errors and finished the frame hitting .086 while Howell, Willow, Skylar George and Natalie Robinson swung for three kills apiece.

- SET 3 (25-15) | The Scarlet Knights wrapped up the night going out to a 12-5 lead, capped by an ace from Brooke Baldwin on a 6-0 RU run. RU also pounded out six unanswered on five straight kills and a solo block from Robinson for a 20-9 advantage. Rutgers hit a match-best .351 in the frame with George and Romes adding four kills each.
