Glenn Cain begins his fifth season at Rutgers as an Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning. In his position, he works alongside the Scarlet Knight Women's Basketball student-athletes in designing programs to develop strength, speed, agility, conditioning, and nutrition to maximize on-court performance.
Cain arrived at Rutgers after working as an Athletic Performance Coach at the University of New Mexico working with the Lobos men’s basketball team.
Before serving on the staff at New Mexico, Cain spent five years at Kansas as an Assistant Sport Performance Coach. While a member of the Jayhawk strength & conditioning staff, he worked with the men’s and women’s basketball program and, as well as directly working with three other teams. During his tenure, eight players were selected in the NBA draft, four of which were lottery picks and the women’s team made back-to-back appearances in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Cain also oversaw the graduate assistant program helping fundraise over $100,000 for the Sport Performance department.
Prior to working at Kansas, Cain served for two years as the Strength and Conditioning/Fitness Center Coordinator at Frostburg State University. As the program’s first strength and conditioning coach, he oversaw over 300 student-athletes and 21 teams.
Cain, who began his strength career as an intern with the Rutgers Football team in 2007, also interned with the UConn women’s basketball program in 2009.
Cain received his Master of Education: Exercise Science and Sport Studies with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College. He previously received his undergraduate degree in Health Studies from Gettysburg College. He is CSCS certified through NSCA.
