Rutgers Draws Oregon State in NCAA Baseball Tournament

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Fresh off a BIG EAST Regular-Season and Tournament title, Rutgers found out its destination and opponent in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship on Monday. The Scarlet Knights (41-19) earned the No. 2 seed and will travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the Regional where it will take on defending National Champion Oregon State on Friday at 8:00 p.m..
"We are pleased at our seed in the tournament," Rutgers head coach Fred Hill said. "Being close to home will allow a lot of our fans to make the trip. We hope to continue our momentum in the Regional this weekend."
Rutgers is back in the tournament for the first time since 2003, when it bowed out to Florida State in the Tallahassee Regional. It is Rutgers' sixth trip to the NCAAs in the last 10 years and 11th in Hill's 24 years at the helm of the Scarlet Knights.
The regional features the No. 8-ranked Virginia Cavaliers from the Atlantic Coast Conference, who earned the top seed in the Regional with a 43-14 record this season. Third-seeded Oregon State, the 2006 National Champions, is 38-17 this season. The Beavers, out of the Pac-10 Conference, have advanced to the College World Series each of the past two seasons. Lafayette, who the Scarlet Knights defeated 6-1 earlier this season, is the fourth seed in the regional after winning the Patriot League crown.

Fans may order tickets for the NCAA Charlottesville Regional online at www.virginiasports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821).
General Admission all-session ticket books are $40 and include admission to all games of the NCAA Regional tournament, and are subject to availability. General Admission seating is on the left field hillside and in the bleachers beyond the left field fence. All seating in the Grandstand is reserved.
All-tournament parking passes for the University Hall or John Paul Jones Arena lots are available in advance for $10. Game-day parking is $5 per day.
All regional ticket books will be available for pick up from Bryant Hall beginning May 30, or at the Davenport Field ticket windows beginning two hours prior to the first game on June 1.
