Scarlet Knights Split Weekend Matches

HANOVER, N.H. - The Rutgers University women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season Saturday against Dartmouth, 6-1, however bounced back with a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Stony Brook Sunday to go 1-1 on the weekend at the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion.
Rutgers (7-1) received major contributions from Amy Zhang (Plano, Texas) as the freshman won both of her singles matches to improve her record to 7-0 on the season. Zhang also went 1-1 in doubles action as she and partner Katherine Arlak (Leonina, N.J.) picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1 singles against Stony Brook.
In the first match of the weekend, the Scarlet Knights were unable to give Dartmouth its first loss of the season in a battle of two unbeaten teams. The Big Green (7-0) jumped on top early, capturing the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. In singles, Zhang was the lone RU player in the win column as she topped Megan Zebroski 7-6 (3), 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.
On Sunday, RU fell behind early, 3-2, against Stony Brook. However, the Scarlet Knights were able to pick up the remaining two singles matches as both Caitlin Baker (Altoona, Pa.) and Christine Tran (Centreville, Va.) won to clinch the match 4-3.
The Scarlet Knights will return to the courts Saturday, March 1 when they hit the road to take on BIG EAST foe Marquette.
