Penn Selected to Jewish Sports Review All-America Team

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers rising junior defender Emily Penn (Medford, N.J.) was named to the Jewish Sports Review 2008 Women's Lacrosse All-America Team, it was announced on Monday. Rising senior Kathryn Seidman (Baltimore, Md.) was an Honorable Mention selection.
Penn started all 17 games in 2008, setting career-highs in ground balls (38) and caused turnovers (29), both team-highs. She finished first in the BIG EAST and 17th nationally with 1.7 caused turnovers per game and fifth in the BIG EAST and 82nd nationally with 2.2 ground balls per game. The Medford, N.J. native also posted a career-high 16 draw controls. Penn was named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 7 after totaling four ground balls, three draw controls and seven caused turnovers while holding Saint Joseph's to eight goals and Connecticut to six in two RU wins.
Seidman played in 15 games this past season, starting 14, and finished with 14 ground balls, four draw controls and five caused turnovers. She tallied three ground balls on two separate occasions, against Delaware on Feb. 28 and against Connecticut on April 6.
