Lang Invited to Summer Baseball League All-Star Game

BETHESDA, Md. - Rutgers sophomore outfielder Michael Lang (Dumont, N.J.) has been selected to play in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game Tuesday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md.
Lang, who enters his sophomore year at Rutgers in the fall, was one of 29 standouts invited to play for the West All-Star squad. He is a member of the Silver Spring Thunderbirds where he is hitting .235 with 20 hits in 30 games, including 23 starts. He has registered seven stolen bases in eight attempts. Lang has also made a pair of outfield assists from his right field position this summer.
In his freshman season with Rutgers this past spring, Lang hit .388 with three doubles, a triple and a home run in 19 games. He earned All-Rookie Team honors from the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association for his performance in 2008.
Prior to his summer league season, Lang played three games at Shirley Povich Field in the spring as the Scarlet Knights swept a three-game series from Georgetown. Lang hit .333 with a double in the three-game series with the Hoyas.
