ARLINGTON, Va. – Rutgers women’s lacrosse junior attacker Brooke Cantwell (Moorestown, N.J.) was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, the league announced at its annual awards banquet Thursday evening.
Cantwell, who has now received all-conference honors in each of the last two years, led the Scarlet Knights with 32 goals in 2009. The junior, who tallied three or more goals in four games this season, has led RU in scoring in each of the last two seasons.
“Brooke deserves this award and worked hard to get it,” said head coach Laura Brand-Sias. “She really stepped up when we needed her this year despite being face guarded in a lot of our conference games. This season allowed Brooke to mature into a larger offensive leadership role which will help her for next year.”
In addition to her goal scoring prowess, Cantwell dished out six assists, won 24 draw controls, scooped 23 groundballs and caused 11 turnovers.
