HYANNIS, Mass. – Rutgers rising senior right-handed pitcher Casey Gaynor (Toms River, N.J.) has been selected to the Under Armour Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game, which will take place tonight at Fenway Park in Boston at 7:00 p.m.
Gaynor is a member of the Orleans Firebirds where he has recorded a stellar 1.80 earned run average and owns a 2-1 record this summer. He has posted 27 strikeouts and walked just eight. He has logged 35 innings this summer.
The pitcher has been a weekend starter for the Scarlet Knights each of the last three seasons, including 13 starts in 2009 where he recorded a team-best 59 strikeouts on the year.
The Scarlet Knight was selected as an All-Star for the East Division. He has helped lead Orleans to a 17-14 record thus far and second place in the division standings.
Each 21-player team was selected in a meeting of the league’s 10 managers. The 47th annual All-Star Game will take place at 7:00 p.m. with a home run derby preceding the contest at 5:15 p.m.
The New England Sports Network (NESN) will provide a live telecast of the game. Local NPR affiliate WCAI (90.1 fm) will provide radio coverage.
Gaynor is joined by fellow Scarlet Knight Jaren Matthews (Teaneck, N.J.) on Orleans.
