PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's lacrosse team, under the direction of head coach Laura Brand-Sias, have planned to take part in a pair of community-based initiatives to help raise funds and awareness for children's brain tumor research. The Scarlet Knights will host three lacrosse games on Saturday, Sept. 26 and participate in the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November.
Rutgers will host Lehigh and Lafayette at the RU Turf Field on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The Scarlet Knights will face Lehigh in the first game of the day, followed by a matchup between Lehigh and Lafayette at noon and a 1 p.m. clash between RU and Lafayette. The women's lacrosse program will be selling Friends of Jaclyn shirts with all proceeds going to the foundation and pediatric brain tumor research.
On Nov. 22, Brand-Sias and assistant coach Kelly Nangle will run in the Philadelphia Half Marathon in another fund-raising effort. The pair will be running on behalf of the program's adopted little sister through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, Genna Camiolo. Last year Brand-Sias raised $2,000 in donations and has set a goal of $5,000 for this year.
