PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 18, 2010) – Rutgers sophomore Ryan Kapp (Toms River, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
The designated hitter collected five hits, including three doubles and a home run to drive in six runs in the three-game series at Seton Hall. All four of his extra-base hits and runs batted in came in the Scarlet Knights’ two victories over the Pirates. Kapp recorded a hit in all three games in the series. His home run at Seton Hall was one of less than 10 home runs hit at Owen T. Carroll Field this season.
The honor marks the seventh time this season a Scarlet Knight was recognized by the league in its weekly awards. Junior Pat Biserta (Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week twice and junior Michael Lang (Dumont, N.J.), senior Casey Gaynor (Toms River, N.J.) and freshmen Steve Nyisztor (Toms River, N.J.) and Jerry Elsing (Montville, N.J.) were named to the conference’s weekly honor roll.
Rutgers returns to action Wednesday with a 1 p.m. game against FDU at Bainton Field.
