Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Welcomes No. 6 Notre Dame

Piscataway, N.J (March 28, 2012) - Winners of four-straight games, the Rutgers women's lacrosse team begins a home weekend with No. 6 Notre Dame Friday, March 30. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and will be held at the RU Turf Field in the Stadium Complex.
Using a strong second half to force an 11-10 win in double overtime Saturday, the Scarlet Knights (5-3) have claimed wins in five of their last six games. The RU attack was led by BIG EAST Honor Roll selection Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.), who posted a personal-best four goals in each contest last week. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Sbrilli (Martinsville, N.J.) scored her second overtime game-winner against the Stags.
This will be the first-ever contest between Rutgers and Notre Dame (7-0) on the RU Turf Field. RU is 1-1 against ranked foes this season. The Irish hold an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series with the Scarlet Knights, though the two teams have split the last two matchups.
For the season, senior midfielder Ali Steinberg (Suffern, N.J.) paces the team with 26 points on 19 goals and seven assists. Defensively, Rebecca Alley (Tewksbury, N.J.) controls possession with 20 draw controls, adding 12 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
Notre Dame is coming off a 13-11 win over Louisville on Saturday, as Maggie Tamasitis scored two goals and dished out four assists. The senior paces UND with 37 points on 10 goals and 27 assists, while sophomore Lindsay Powell has posted 23 scores.
In net for the Irish, Ellie Hilling owns a .472 save percentage and a 9.92 GAA. Head coach Christine Halfpenny is in the midst of her first season with UND after five seasons at the College of William & Mary.
