
Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Receives IWLCA Academic Squad Honors

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 21, 2013) - The Rutgers women's lacrosse team earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Squad honors for the 2013 season- the program's fifth time receiving the distinction. RU was among 65 Division I schools recognized by the association.
"As always, we strive to represent the ideals of Rutgers Athletics in our pursuit of academic success, and this year was no different," said head coach Laura Brand-Sias. "I am proud of the team and their ability to embrace and continue this tradition on an annual basis."
Overall, the IWLCA recognized 173 total schools for earning IWLCA Academic Squad honors for the 2013 season. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors.
Earlier this month, the Scarlet Knights had 18 members placed on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Additionally, the squad was recognized by the NCAA for its academic success with the release of the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in June. RU recorded a 1,000 score for the 2011-12 academic year - the program's fourth-straight perfect mark.
