Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season at Purdue, Indiana

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Rutgers women's tennis team is set for its final two matchups of its inaugural season in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knights will travel to the state of Indiana to face No. 34 Purdue on Saturday, April 11, followed by a match at No. 54 Indiana on Sunday, April 12.
Saturday's contest at Purdue marks the Boilermakers' Hammer Down Cancer Match. A charity tennis ball hitting contest will be held between the doubles and singles matches, which will raise money for cancer research at Purdue University.

Rutgers (6-12, 0-9 Big Ten) is in search of snapping a seven-match skid. Most recently, the Scarlet Knights were topped by then-No. 21 Northwestern by a score of 6-1 and fell to Illionis by a mark of 7-0.
Freshman Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.M.) leads the team with three singles victories in Big Ten play, including wins over Northwestern, Michigan State and Wisconsin. Senior Lindsay Balsamo (Wall, N.J.) and junior Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) have also grabbed one victory a piece in conference singles play.
In doubles action, the pair of junior Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) and Lee pace the squad with a victory at the No. 1 doubles spot, defeating their Wisconsin opponents.
SCOUTING NO. 34 PURDUE
Purdue (11-5, 4-3 Big Ten) ended a three-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over then-No. 43 Michigan State on Sunday. The Boilermakers had suffered consecutive losses to Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.
The duo of Krisztina Kapitany and Nicole Robinson lead the squad with a 7-0 overall record in doubles play, along with a 4-0 mark in conference action. In addition, Kapitany has won 11 of her last 12 singles matchups between the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
Head coach Laura Glitz is in her eighth season with the Boilermakers.
SCOUTING NO. 52 INDIANA
Indiana (12-7, 3-4 Big Ten) enters the weekend following a 7-0 shutout at the hands of Michigan on Sunday. The day prior, the Hoosiers defeated Michigan State, 5-2.
Stephanie Smith leads the team with a 4-2 singles record in conference play, followed by Shannon Murdy with a mark of 3-4. The duo of Smith and Murdy also tied for the team lead with two conference victories in doubles play.
Lin Loring has recorded 37 years at the helm of the program.
Prior to Sunday's match, Indiana will welcome fellow Big Ten newcomer Maryland for an 11 a.m. contest.
