PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association named Rutgers women's tennis to the 2015 ITA All-Academic Team. Additionally, senior Lindsay Balsamo (Wall, N.J.), junior Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.), sophomore Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.M.), and sophomore Ksenija Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia) all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete individual honors.
The ITA All-Academic Team requires at least a 3.2 team grade point average (on a 4.00 scale). It is the seventh time in the last eight years the Scarlet Knights have been awarded for their success in academics. RU was one of 160 schools and one of 11 Big Ten Conference members recognized.
The ITA Scholar-Athlete award calls for an individual GPA of 3.5 in order to earn honors. Balsamo, Kayati, Lee and Tihomirova are four of the 764 scholar-athletes awarded, showing the strength of Division I student-athletes in the classroom.
Kayati was also the recipient of the National ITA/Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship this season, while Balsamo earned back-to-back team scholar athlete awards for her excellent performance in the classroom.
