PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 22, 2017) – Rutgers tennis opened the 2017-18 season with five singles victories and a pair of doubles wins on Day 1 of the three-day Brown Invitational on Friday afternoon.

"I was pleased with how we came out for our first day of competition," said head coach Hilary Ritchie. "Even in matches where we had slow starts, we were able to battle back. Tomorrow, I'll be looking for us to capitalize on key points again."

Sophomore Kat Muzik led that group with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Stony Brook's Anne-Kathrin Hierl at the No. 3 position, while also teaming with freshman Maya Jacobs for a 6-4 win over Stony Brook at the No. 2 doubles slot.
