Scarlet Knights to raise money for organization in conjunction with HEADstrong scrimmage on Oct. 15.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – In conjunction with its HEADstrong Fall Event Series scrimmages at the F3 practice fields on Sunday, Oct. 15, Rutgers women's lacrosse will collect money to donate to the HEADStrong Foundation, a charity that helps families afflicted with cancer.
The Scarlet Knights will be running an online fundraising campaign to collect donations for the cause. That online initiative can be found here.
Last season, RU raised money for the foundation in association with its home game against Northwestern. Rutgers "went lime" and wore green shoelaces and headbands during its matchup with the Wildcats. The Scarlet Knights will wear green shoelaces, headbands and t-shirts again when it competes against Fairfield, Sienna and Wagner next month.
Founded in 2006, the HEADstrong Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing essential services to improve lives affected by cancer. The blueprints for the Foundation were conceptualized by Nicholas "HEAD" Colleluori in 2006, from his hospital bed while he underwent treatment for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which ultimately claimed his life. Today, Nick's vision is being fulfilled through the relentless efforts of his family, athletes and supporters across the country uniting in the fight against cancers.
More information on the HEADstrong Foundation can be found here.
