Tennis Welcomes Army for Midweek Matchup

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis welcomes Army for a dual match on Wednesday, starting at 1:30 p.m. at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Kicking off its home slate, Rutgers (1-0) recorded a 7-0 victory over Binghamton in its first dual match of the season last Friday. The Scarlet Knights secured the doubles point and six straight singles matches for the win.
Senior Mingxiu Du and sophomore Kat Muzik have an unblemished 4-0 record as a duo in doubles matches this season, contributing a 6-2 win in the No. 1 doubles spot against Binghamton.
Muzik went on to capture the first singles match of the day at the No. 3 position, using a 6-1, 6-0 victory to get the team rolling for the shutout.
SCOUTING ARMY
Last weekend, Army (0-2) suffered two setbacks against Cornell and Missouri. The Black Knights first fell to the Big Red on Saturday (6-1) before dropping to the Tigers on Sunday in a neutral sit contest (4-0).
Against Cornell, Kirby Einck recorded a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win at the No. 3 position to deny a shutout. In the match with Missouri, the duo of Genevieve McCormick and Danna Funaro won at the No. 2 doubles matchup, improving to 3-1 as a pair.
LAST MEETING
Rutgers and Army crossed paths at the season-opening NJIT Invitational a couple weeks back. At the invite, Genevieve McCormick and Danna Funaro teamed up to win the Doubles Draw B Title. Meanwhile, Sasha Inchauste advanced to the finals of the Singles Draw C before for falling to RU sophomore Jaci Cochrane.
