Tennis Hosts #11 Illinois, Travels to #9 Northwestern

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis gears up for two ranked matchups this weekend. RU first hosts No. 11 Illinois for a 12:30 p.m. match on Friday afternoon at the RU Tennis Complex. The Scarlet Knights then travel to No. 9 Northwestern for a 12:30 p.m. match on Sunday in Evanston, Illinois.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (5-7, 0-3) fell to Maryland in its Big Ten home opener, returning home after seven straight matches on the road to begin March.
The pair of senior Mingxiu Du and sophomore Kat Muzik and the duo of senior Chloe Lee and sophomore Jaci Cochrane each have a doubles victory in Big Ten play this season.
In singles action, Cochrane leads the Scarlet Knights with six victories in dual competition.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS
Illinois (14-2, 3-1) returns from a west coast trip that included wins at Hawaii and UC-Santa Barbara. The Fighting Illini also own wins over Purdue and Indiana, along with a loss to then-No. 14 Northwestern in Big Ten matches this season.
Sasha Belaya and Mia Rabinowitz each hold 11 singles victories overall and 4-0 records in league play. In doubles, action the duo of Daniela Novak and Belaya own a 13-2 record overall and 4-0 mark in conference play.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
Northwestern (11-4, 4-0) snapped an eight-game win streak with a 5-2 loss to then-No. 26 Baylor on the road Tuesday. The Wildcats have defeated then-No. 5 Illinois, Iowa, Purdue and Indiana in conference bouts this year.
Maddie Lipp leads the team in singles with a 10-2 overall record and 4-1 league mark. Erin Larner follows with a 9-1 overall record and 4-0 Big Ten mark. Larner and Lipp also hold a 4-0 league record in doubles action as a pair.
Northwestern will travel to Maryland on Friday before hosting Rutgers.
