Tennis Set for Big Ten Home Opener

Scarlet Knights host Minnesota and Wisconsin for first conference home matches of season
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's tennis is set for its Big Ten home opener with Minnesota on Friday, March 15. The Scarlet Knights then host Wisconsin on Sunday, March 17. Both conference matchups are slated for 12:30 p.m. ET starts at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
Rutgers announced the addition of PlaySight SmartCourts to its indoor facility at the EBRC. All indoor home matches for the remainder of the season will be streamed live and accompanied with live results as well.

- The Scarlet Knights swept the Tigers, 7-0, to start the weekend with a win.

- Sophomore Maya Jacobs leads the team with a 6-1 record at the No. 1 singles spot.
- The duo of freshman Tess Fisher and junior Kat Muzik pace the team with four doubles wins at the No. 1 spot.
- Minnesota (7-6, 0-1 Big Ten) picked up two home wins on Saturday over Drake, 7-0, and Iowa State, 4-1.
- Bita Mancera leads the team with a 10-2 singles record at the No. 3 spot.
- Tiffany Huber follows with a 7-5 record at the No. 2 spot and Cammy Frei adds a 7-4 record across the No. 4 and 5 positions.
- Caitlyn Merzbacher and Frei pace the Golden Gophers with a 7-2 record at the No. 1 doubles spot.
- Minnesota earned a7-0 victory at home over Rutgers last season.
- Wisconsin (8-2, 1-0 Big Ten) last competed on Feb. 22 and 24, falling to Utah by a score of 4-3 and topping Minnesota by a mark of 5-2.
- Sara Castellano leads the team with a 10-0 record at the No. 1 singles spot.
- Lexie Keberle follows with a 9-1 singles mark at the No. 2 position.
- Anna Makarova and Melissa Pick own a 4-0 doubles mark as a pair.
- Wisconsin faces Maryland on Saturday before arriving in New Jersey.
