MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Rutgers baseball dropped a close 5-4 contest to Ball State on Saturday afternoon in the Swig and Swine Classic.
With RU leading 4-2 in the seventh, the Cardinals rallied to tie the game at 4 and ultimately took a 5-4 lead on a solo home run in the eighth inning. Ryan Lasko was able to get to second base with one out in the ninth but was stranded there to end the game.

Bowen pitched three good innings of relief, giving up just 1 run and striking out four. Wyatt Parliament made his first appearance of the season for one batter, and was relieved by Justin Sinibaldi, who finished the game for RU.
Rutgers manufactured 2 runs in the second inning by loading the bases with no outs and bringing home runs on a Jordan Sweeney fielder's choice and Andy Axelson sac fly.
RU added another in the fourth on a Sweeney RBI double and in the sixth on a Lasko RBI groundout.
The Scarlet Knights wrap up their weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Swig and Swine Classic, taking on Boston College.
