PISCATAWAY, N.J. ā For the third year in a row, Rutgers volleyball went to five sets with Michigan, but this time it was the Scarlet Knights in the win column.
Rutgers earned its first-ever win over the Wolverines with a 25-20, 25-21, 15-25, 19-25, 15-11 victory. Michigan is receiving votes in this week's AVCA Top 25 and last weekend became only the second Big Ten squad to take a set off top-ranked Nebraska.
The Scarlet Knights made it back-to-back wins to improve to 12-13 overall and 3-10 in the Big Ten contest as the Big Ten Tournament field is still up for grabs with home games remaining against USC on Saturday, #7 Wisconsin and Maryland next week and the regular season finale at #11 Penn State on November 17.
Michigan, meanwhile, dropped to 14-10 and 5-8 in the league.
