Track and Field to Host Rutgers Relays

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field will host its first outdoor meet of the season this weekend with the Rutgers Relays at the Bauer Complex. The action will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 and feature a senior day and letterwinner recognition.
Fans attending the track and field meet are advised to plan for increased traffic due to several events taking place along Hospital Road. The baseball and softball programs will both host Big Ten contests at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Jersey Mike's Arena will also be the site of an Open House event for the School of Arts and Sciences from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Scarlet Knights will field its full squad at the Rutgers Relays after sending the distance group to the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton.
At the Sam Howell Invitational, the Scarlet Knights turned in several strong performances on the men's side as Ryan Merlino won the pole vault event with a personal-best, clearing 5.37m (17' 7.25"). His height marked the fourth-best on the all-time list. Gavin Rossi delivered a standout performance, running the third-fastest time in program history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing fourth in 8:53.27.
Additional contributions came from Robert Poplau, who placed fourth in the elite 800m (1:51.46), and Micah Lawson, who added a sixth-place finish in the steeplechase.
With the season entering its second half, this meet presents an important opportunity for the Scarlet Knights to evaluate and continue securing qualifying performances in the lead up to the championship portion of the schedule.
