                                  MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota scored four in the third to break a scoreless        tie on the way to beating Rutgers baseball, 6-0, in the nightcap of a Tuesday doubleheader        at Siebert Field. The Scarlet Knights were blanked for the first time since Opening Day at        Miami.
        
         Sophomore Nick Matera had two        hits, including his 11th double of the season, but RU (19-31, 7-13) went 1-for-10 with        runners in scoring positon. Sophomore Mike        Martinez picked up a triple, while classmate Carmen Sclafani        drew two walks.
        
         On the mound, sophomore Dante        Scafidi (0-2) made his second start of the season and collected two scoreless        frames to begin before the Golden Gophers (32-17, 14-6) rallied in the third. Senior        Ryan Fleming logged a        season-high three innings of relief in his 25th appearance of the year, with sophomore        Kevin Romero dealing        one scoreless frame. Senior Colin        Bohnert tossed 1.1 innings and has not allowed a run in 6-of-7 games in        2017.
        
         Each side went down empty in the first two innings before Minnesota put the first five        batters on in the third on four hits and one walk. Single runs would cross for the home        team in the fifth and seventh.
        
         Toby Anderson (6-5) earned the win by pitching 6.1 innings with six strikeouts. Rutgers        stranded 11 runners on base in the game.
        
         Quickly returning to the road, the Scarlet Knights will travel to Northwestern to start a        three-game series on Thursday. It will wrap up playing eight conference games in nine days,        as RU is still alive for a playoff berth despite the losses on Tuesday.
