Tennis Hosts Binghamton for Home Opener

Match set for 12:30 p.m. at the East Brunswick Racquet Club
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis is set for its home opener against Binghamton on Friday, Jan. 26. The match will be hosted off campus at the East Brunswick Racquet Club with a 12:30 p.m. start time.
RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Rutgers opened its spring season at the NJIT Invitational. The two-day event featured a flight style tournament with Army, Fordham, and host NJIT.
In doubles action, senior Mingxiu Du and sophomore Kat Muzik claimed the title in Draw A, defeating fellow Scarlet Knights freshman Maya Jacobs and sophomore Jaci Cochrane.
Cochrane went on to earn the title in Singles Draw C, recording a 4-0 singles record along the way. The full results of the invite can be found here.
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
Binghamton kicks off its 2018 season with the dual match at Rutgers. The fall slate for the Bearcats included invites at Navy, Army, and Buffalo, as well as the ITA Northeast Regionals.
A year ago, Samara Eisenberg paced the team with 10 singles wins, as well as contributing to eight in doubles action. In the fall, Maria Pandya and Paulina Tafler each recorded four wins in singles action to lead the team.
LAST MEETING WITH THE BEARCATS
The Scarlet Knights earned a 6-1 victory in last season's meeting with the Bearcats. Rutgers recorded five singles points and swept the doubles point for the victory.
